Stages Provides Autism Curriculum Kit to support families during COVID-19 School Closures

Stages Learning Materials has created an Autism Curriculum Kit designed specifically for families who have children with autism in order to support learning at a time when many schools in the United States are closed.

San Diego, CA – April 10, 2020

The Stages Learning Materials team has been working to meet the growing need for at-home learning resources for children with autism, and their parents and teachers, during this challenging time. In response to the pandemic, Stages has created a variety of free support tools.

These tools include a free COVID-19 Emergency Resource Kit that includes free lessons, materials, activity sheets, data tracking sheets, behavior management tools, and a basic overview of how to use the Language Builder: ARIS curriculum system at home. Stages has also created a new section of our Autism Resources and Community (ARC) blog focused on the COVID-19 response to help support parents and educators. In addition, the Autism Learning Line (ALL), a brand new community forum created to facilitate discussions and provide resources that serve the unique needs of the autism community, now includes a COVID-19 discussion section.

“It is our goal to be able to continue providing these free resources to our community and create new products for autism education for years to come” said Angela Nelson, CEO of Stages Learning Materials. “My heart goes out to all of the families and children disrupted by recent events. I hope we can ease just a touch of your stress by making these materials available. Be well, stay safe. We will get through this together.”

The materials being offered are a collection of lessons from Stages Learning Materials’ new Language Builder: ARIS curriculum. The downloaded lessons come with an introductory overview that offers guidance on how to use and adapt the sample ARIS lesson plans and materials to your home education setting, as well as tips on using materials that parents already have at home to supplement the free picture cards included with this kit.

Stages has also launched a new online community for parents, educators and therapists to support each other and provide guidance on teaching children at home during the COVID-19. Please visit Autism Learning Line and join the community. Parents, teachers and therapists are already having discussions and providing advice to each other on how to help children continue their learning at home during the pandemic.
